Slavic Celebration in Karsiyaka !

Maslenitsa, which is the feast of ‘saying hello’ by Slavic communities, is celebrated with enthusiasm in Karsiyaka. The event that is organized by Soljenitsin Russian Language and Culture Association, is realized at Gondol Cafe with the hosting of Kent A.S., being the institution of Karsiyaka Municipality.

Traditional Enthusiasm

Traditional feast celebration, during when Russians living in Izmir come together, caused big enthusiasm. Participants sang songs being unique to their cultures and they exhibited local dance shows. Children of Turkish-Russian families added color to the event with their dances. Crepes, representing the sun, are offered to the guests.

Laborers Opened Kermis

During the Kermis that is organized, Russian artists opened stands for various products such as handmade ornaments, bags, and candles. Karsiyaka Municipality Producer Women’s Cooperative participated at the kermis with their handicraft works. Participants who found the opportunity to celebrate their feasts with enthusiasm, thanked to Karsiyaka Municipality, Mayor Huseyin Mutlu Akpinar and to all those putting their efforts in the organization”.
